Mojo #1 TB Mk 1.5
This is part of a series of MOJO pedals: hand-wired, soldered, and built using the best new old stock and vintage style parts. They are housed in classic “big wedge” fuzz-style enclosures and hand-painted and decorated in my studio.
This is the first in my MOJO series where I’m taking and building some vintage fuzz circuits using vintage parts. I’m making some small modifications along the way, some for tone and some for convenience. In this case, I wired this classic MK 1.5 Tone Bender circuit with a third knob that controls the bias of Q2. This allows you to really dial in the gatey/crunch quality of the fuzz. There are a huge number of tones between the 3 knobs. Additionally, for modern convenience, even though this is a PNP-style fuzz, it was wired with an offboard charge pump circuit which means you can run it off your normal center-negative power supply and it converts to -9V internally.
These large enclosures trade the pedal board friendliness for sturdyness and style. The dimensions are approximately 4.25"x10"x2.25". There are rubber feet on the base.
